Things you’ll need
- Large Coffee (32oz)
- Small Coffee (12oz)
- David Sunflower Seeds (low sodium)
- Sticky Note pad
- Pen
- A good reason
Too many of us have done it, you’ve waited till the last
minute and now have a huge assignment and 12 hours to write it. Unlike the beginning
of the year your sensitivity for coffee has gone down significantly and either
life, work, or an incessant need for a bed, junk food, and Netflix has gotten
in the way of you and a good grade. I hear you. And you’re not alone. Here are my
top surefire tips for pulling an all-nighter alert, focused, and in the zone.
1.
Panic.
Most people will tell you to calm down, everything is going to be ok. Those are
the people that want you to fail, don’t listen to them. Panicking sends your
mind through a rush, helps you set goals and priorities, and forces you to
focus on the now. If you can freak out, that’ll also give you an extra
adrenaline boost to jump start you into action.
2.
Sip on coffee
and chew the seeds. As you start to work try not to gulp down the coffee. Small
and steady sips of caffeine will keep you sustain energy without crashing.
Chewing seeds will keep blood flowing to your head helping you stay focused and
alert. Try to find low sodium sunflower seeds, too much salt isn’t good for you
your health and your tongue will thank you.
3.
Stick notes
everywhere. On your bed, on the way to the bathroom, on the walls around
your work space to remind you of what’s at stake. Goal is to stay awake, don’t
let yourself get distracted. Although this step might seem useless, you’ll be
surprised how motivating they are at 3 in the morning.
4.
Can’t
even??? Drink small coffee and take quick nap. This one I learned from Buzzfeed.
Basically, you chug a cup of coffee, set a timer for 20min, and crash out. When
you wake up you’ll feel fresh, and ready to tackle the home stretch. Try to save
this till you literally can’t even.
5.
It’s 4am,
I’m exhausted. By now the worse is over and you’re probably almost done.
Keep going Stretch out, and do a couple jumping jacks to keep the blood
flowing.
After having been in school for most of my life, these tips
have yet to fail me. Test them out and tell me what you think.
Hello, Josue. It's interesting post. When you feel so tired and just have 15-20 minutes nap can be really helpful. There is an article even teach you how to have an efficiency nap. Keep healthy!
ReplyDeleteHi Josue,
ReplyDeleteThese are great tips, but they are mostly for people that drink coffee. the one's that don't include coffee I have tried, and unlike you I had no success. I was actually very surprised that number one was even a tip, because usually when I panic I freeze. I didn't realize that for some people it actually helps them. Well if in the future I ever pick up a cup of coffee I might just try these tips.
